Mt. Fuji Japanese Restaurant
Mt. Fuji Japanese Restaurant is one of Little Rock’s most historic dining destinations and is widely recognized as the city’s first sushi restaurant. Known for its authentic Japanese cuisine, Mt. Fuji specializes in fresh sushi and sashimi, traditional ramen and udon dishes, tempura, and classic Japanese comfort food, all prepared with a focus on quality ingredients and traditional techniques.
Originally opened in 1986, the restaurant has been a longtime staple of the Breckenridge Village area and helped introduce sushi to many Arkansans for the first time.
Today, Mt. Fuji is owned and operated by brothers Aaron Shota Jackson and Yusuke Jackson, who purchased the restaurant in 2022 after growing up around it while their mother worked there. After spending years working in the restaurant industry in Dallas, the brothers returned to Little Rock to continue the restaurant’s legacy while introducing new ideas and seasonal dishes inspired by modern Japanese cuisine.
While honoring the recipes and traditions that made Mt. Fuji a local institution, the Jackson family continues to evolve the restaurant with a focus on authentic Japanese flavors, fresh seafood, and a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere that has made the restaurant a favorite for decades.
